EB11 talks about the music scene in their hometown Tenerife, Spain, including its lack of rock music.
1. For people who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words:
Grunge, Fast, Catchy, Energetic, Groovy
2. How long has the band been together? Or if you’re a solo artist, how long have you been performing for?
The band started as a solo artist for about 3 years ago and EB11 as a band has been together performing for a year.
3. How did you come to play the style of music you play?
I just feel it in every part of me, it come as natural as talking it is a way of expression and I guess a lot of influences from other great band that I used to love when I was growing up.
4. What influences the lyrics you write?
Absolutely everything, from a relationship to a TV program, death, life, sickness, party, sex, everything. I guess I take everything that surrounds me and kind of filter it in my head and then I write lyrics.
5. What can people expect from your live show?
well that is actually a hard question the way we experience it. it is a very energetic show but at the same time it is very dynamic, you know fast songs, heavy songs and more pop ballad type of songs they can definitely expect to have a good time.
we like try to have a good time on stage and that is a contagious feeling so people definitely will enjoy an EB11 show.
6. What do you want people to know about your band?
Anything really but it feels really good when they know the songs and sing along
7. What would you say is your biggest achievement/accomplishment as an artist/band?
Well I have to say opening for Big Noize. In Tenerife Spain does not really happens much when it comes down to music and specially if we talk about rock music. So about a year ago this band called Big Noize formed by ex-members of Rainbow, Ozzy, AC/DC and Quiet Riot came to Tenerife and we had the honor of opening for them.
Now, I say this is our biggest thing so far because like I said before here nothing really happens when it comes down to music, so when this band came everybody that was a little bit into rock went to see them so the place was packed plus we had a great response from the audience and the sound was great.
8. Have you worked with anyone notable on your releases?
No, no yet
9. What do you like more – playing festivals or individual shows?
Playing individual shows is fun and cool because you have no time limit with the soundcheck and the actual show, but playing festivals is just awesome the atmosphere is great most of the times, plus you get to see other bands and fans of other bands get to see you, so it is great exposure and fun so I would have to say festivals.
10. What are the best and worst things about your local music scene?
The music scene in Tenerife is really bad, especially for people writing their own material, just so that you have an idea of how it is: all the places that claim to have live music have a guy doing Elvis tribute or Freddy Mercury tribute with backing tracks or a minidisk and I have to say really bad quality backings.
On the other hand everytime somebody tries to do something they do it very good, good sound good stages and so on it is really a shame that it does not happen so often.
11. If you could open for any artist, who would it be?
Incubus
12. If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?
in our condition of indie artist with out a label I would have to say a big city like New York, or L.A or London to try to get noticed by some agent or something, but we really want to play everywhere we can.
13. What are your future plans for the band?
Gig in as many places as we can, hopefully put together a tour really try to be seen as much as we can.
14. Any advice for indie bands just starting out?
Follow your heart…
