We met up with Froud in Belfast, Ireland. We love their sound and can see why they’ve already been signed with publishers in London, New York, LA and Nashville.
1. For people who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words:
Edgy modern radio friendly Rock!
2. How long has the band been together?
18 months
3. How did you come to play the style of music you play?
Its basically a mix af what we listen to as music fans!
4. What influences the lyrics you write?
Everyday happenings
5. What can people expect from your live show?
Big sound with solid musicianship. We try to play in an interesting and entertaining way that conveys the song in a fairly accurate way to the recorded in an electric set. With our Acoustic sets we get to play with some of the songs a bit more and mix it up! Thats where we get to experiment a bit more!
6. What do you want people to know about your band?
That the band have a mainstream feel to it without selling out to what seems to be monthly trends. I think that it’s hard to put a timeline on our sound, to place it! Also that these guys i get to work with are in my view are some of the best performing players I’ve seen in this country and should be seen live!
7. What would you say is your biggest achievement/accomplishment as an artist/band?
Well getting song released is always great for a band but when others show an interest in what your doing its great. We’ve signed up with a number of publishers in London, New York, LA & Nashville. Skopemag hailed us as an Artist to Watch which was a great boost. And being included in a compilation in Italy and selected by Sonicbids to be represented at a number of large conference across the USA…..fun times!
8. Have you worked with anyone notable on your releases?
We have worked with Una Healy from the Saturdays on a few songs that are due for release this year! She did some vocals for us, fantastic vocalist, so keep an ear out for it!
9. What do you like more – playing festivals or individual shows?
Two very different things but personally I enjoy the buzz of festivals!
10. What are the best and worst things about your local music scene?
It’s small which is both good and bad i guess.!!!
11. If you could open for any artist, who would it be?
Paul McCartney! He’s a beatle!
12. If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?
New York, What an electric city!
13. What are your future plans for the band?
Keep writing and releasing material. We’re working towards a full album release but its an ongoing process!
14. Any advice for indie bands just starting out?
Research the best people for the job you want done and ask them….. I know that sounds obvious but it saves so much time and money when the right people work with you form the start. You get places so much quicker!
