An interview with Preachers Son from Dublin, Ireland

1. For people who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words:
Bluesy dark rock sex life

2. How long has the band been together?  Or if you’re a solo artist, how long have you been performing for?
One year and 4 months

3. How did you come to play the style of music you play?
By living, experience, enjoying music, learning by everything we’ve listened to and played in the past. Confidence in knowing what we like and choosing what we want. Collaborating with other musicians and allowing that to pass through what we write.

4. What influences the lyrics you write?
Love, life, hurt, disappointment, ecstasy, contentment, death, loss, joy… all of it and more that is hard to pin point.

5. What can people expect from your live show?
Moody grooves, volume and pathos, a ride, variety, a bit of craic and more volume.

6. What do you want people to know about your band?
Everything, nothing to hide. Let them make up their own mind about how they perceive us.

7. What would you say is your biggest achievement/accomplishment as an artist/band?
The body of work, the forthcoming debut album that has taken a over a year to make. We are very proud to have reached this stage with it despite the obstacles.

8. Have you worked with anyone notable on your releases?
Concerning our debut album, we’ve been very lucky to have worked with Gavin Friday, Liam O’Maonlai, Kieran Kennedy, Rori Coleman and the mixing god, Dave Bascombe who has brought up our game a thousand fold.

9. What do you like more – playing festivals or individual shows?
All of them, live performance be it on any level, to play in front of people is special, there’s an energy unleashed unlike any other.

10. What are the best and worst things about your local music scene?
It’s intimate and it’s intimate.

11. If you could open for any artist, who would it be?
The Dead Weather

12. If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?
L’Olympia Paris

13. What are your future plans for the band?
Release a single followed by an album, in between go on tour, write some more, get some festivals, release another single, go on tour, write some more……

14. Any advice for indie bands just starting out?
Like Nike says, Just Do It until… you don’t want to do it any more (Nike doesn’t say the second bit)
