An interview with Irish band The Whatmans, who won Indie Week Ireland 2010, and are coming to the Toronto festival in October.

Brilliant, classy , rocking, energetic, Wonderful

2. How long has the band been together?
2 years together and performing

3. How did you come to play the style of music you play?
Group of friends liking the same sound of music – nobody else has a similar style

4. What influences the lyrics you write?
Life, love, drink, friends,

5. What can people expect from your live show?
Energy, we always leave the aduiance tired and exhausted

6. What do you want people to know about your band?
We are origional, classy, brilliant but also music that makes you want to get up and dance

7. What would you say is your biggest achievement/accomplishment as an artist/band?
Staying together, getting songs that are good and people enjoy

8. Have you worked with anyone notable on your releases?
Due to label restrictions we cannot comment on that question- but no

9. What do you like more – playing festivals or individual shows?
Festivals if anybody would give us a break

10. What are the best and worst things about your local music scene?
Anti outside dublin band scene

11. If you could open for any artist, who would it be?
Stone Roses- with Elvis on vocals

12. If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Rio or Tubbercurry

13. What are your future plans for the band?
World domination

14. Any advice for indie bands just starting out?
Stay friends
